Turtle Beach P21 mini-review
So I have had a chance to test out my Turtle Beach P21 headset for a month now and am ready to give my take on them. These are Turtle Beach’s first attempt at a headset that combines mic chat and stereo sound for the Playstation 3. A couple of cool elements of these is that they have seperate volume controls for mic chat and game sound so you can manually tweak the audio for that perfect balance. Also, there is a bass boost feature that allows for stronger bass if you prefer that kind of thing when play music games for example. The mic is extremely flexible and picks up sound very well (so well you often can hear yourself breathing) and allows you to hear yourself when speaking to people online. And last but not least its usb powered so no extra power adapters needed like some other similar headsets available.
There are a couple of downsides however. For one, there is a faint hissing sound that can be heard in the background when the volume is not high or during quiet moments in the game. And second, its not wireless and therefore wires can become a hassle depending on your game room setup.
Overall, for rough 70 to 80 dollars this is great option for nocturnal gamers who wish to not bother the neighbors, the parents or wife and kids while enjoying some of best games available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or Wii.
